Project Goals

Improve the college readiness of high achieving multicultural students in the greater Cincinnati area

a) Prepare 100 multicultural high school students in three dimensions of college readiness from July 2015 to July 2018

b) Inform at least 100 additional high school youth from the target districts by inviting them to the endof- the-year activities of Dream Keeper participants

Enhance the leadership abilities of Miami University students

Enroll at least 25 undergraduate students per year in service learning coursework that prepares them to be effective near-peer mentors.

Attract and retain high achieving multicultural students to Miami University

a) Offer the Dream Keeper Program as a college credit plus course

b) Admit at least 30% of Dream Keeper students to Miami University through cluster admission

c) Retain 100% of these students through near peer mentoring support

Make Miami University a regional leader in college readiness and the retention of multicultural students

a) Develop and/or strengthen partnerships with high schools in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Middletown, and Winton Woods school districts by targeting their students for the Miami University Dream Keepers opportunity

b) Work with schools to offer the Dream Keepers program as a college credit plus opportunity

c) Develop a replicable national model for partnerships among regional universities and local urban high schools to improve the college readiness of high-achieving minority students

Enhance the Miami University Community

a) Create a dynamic collaboration among key Miami University faculty, staff, and students in three colleges and five departments who envision college readiness as a holistic endeavor.

b) Produce a model curriculum for college readiness and encourage research, publications, and presentations across disciplines
